POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Project Delivery and Planning is responsible for oversight and delivery of the project portfolio ensuring alignment with the Impark’s strategic objectives and business goals and optimal use of the organization’s resources.

The Director will be responsible for working closely with all areas of the organization including the business users and IT team members to ensure projects are managed to meet business objectives and are sustainable. This position will ensure timely implementation, effective resource management and sustainable changes in connection with the projects.

In this role Director, Project Delivery & Planning will also be responsible for management and delivery of the IT Transformation Program and projects that are part of this program.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the overall management and delivery and of projects (scope, timeline, budget) within Project Delivery & Planning group portfolio.
  • Develops scope and budget for major projects and ensures each is associated with a business case and impact assessment.
  • Work collaboratively with all teams across the organization to assess project viability, technology, impacts to customers and business systems, and conduct cost and benefit comparisons. Serve as the first-line of contact for scoping, costing, and planning major enterprise projects, particularly those that are multi-departmental or enterprise-wide. This includes gathering requests, assessing requirements, calculating resource needs across departments, and proposing project plans and schedules.
  • Acts as an advocate and a change agent across the enterprise for process improvement and new ways of conducting business. Actively promotes adoption of improvements over the current state.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and direction to project managers, business analysts, subject matter experts, project coordinator and the team members of the Project Delivery & Planning group.
  • Serve as escalation point for resolving project issues in a timely fashion when they cannot be resolved at the project level or when impacting multiple projects. Identify appropriate response mechanisms, assist in communicating with stakeholders and affected parties, develop recommendations, and negotiate resolutions.
  • Responsible for holding organizational resources accountable for meeting project deliverables. Work with departmental managers to address project related performance.
  • Develop usable reports, metrics, and presentations for communicating and publicizing key projects, deliverables and milestones to Impark’s senior management team.
  • Forecast key project deliverables to dates, budgets, risk factors, and resource constraints and proactively suggests mitigation options to management.
  • Verifies project tasks and resources are prioritized appropriately across the entire project portfolio.
  • Ensures that business and change management resources are deployed to ensure sustainable, timely implementation.
  • Facilitate project review sessions, documents lessons learned and potential improvement opportunities, and works with peers on implementing suggested improvements as appropriate.     
  • Work across organizational boundaries and effectively manage change to ensure project success.
  • Participate in planning and deployment technology solutions to meet the company’s strategic business objectives.
  • Provide and manage input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation on IT Project Delivery Methodology and related business processes, and ensure that cross-training is done and effective across the team.
  • Set team goals & objectives, develop action plans, and delegate them appropriately.
  • Work with IT Management team in the definition, implementation and enforcement of all IT Best Practices and Methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with Project Management methodologies, Change Management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) deliverables.
  • Develop team members, conduct performance reviews, and provide regular coaching and feedback. Effectively mentor team members and resources.
  • Develop strategic vendor/partner relationships and negotiate with vendors on products and services. Undertake any other related duties as required.

Experience:

Proven ability to:

  • Lead and manage a team of information systems professionals, internal and external in the provision of project delivery services to a diverse set of corporate clients. Excellent people management skills, including employee development.
  • Manage and enhance project management office including the development of project management methodologies and practices across multi-departmental project teams.  Apply technologies to business initiatives, influence strategic direction, and identify and apply productivity improvements and expertise to business and technical aspects of processes being automated.
  • Plan, manage and track overall program delivery and individual project budgets ( Operating Budget, One-Time Operating Budget, and Capital Budget).
  • Analyse and document complex business processes and procedures, including re-engineering of business practices.
  • Define technological and resource requirements and in collaboration with Enterprise Architect identify appropriate solutions
  • Develop tactical plans and practical implementation strategies about project management office and technology planning process.
  • Ensure the delivery of first-class projects and support within defined scope, budget and customer satisfaction
  • Implement large in-house and packaged systems. Lead systems development efforts and manage third party systems integrators.
  • Effectively communicate complex information to a non-technical audience including presentations to corporate executives and company boards.
  • Ability to establish credibility and develop effective relationships at all levels within the organization.
  • Work with various stakeholders and IT Steering Committee.
  • Prepare reports and present them to management including ability to develop and present executive level status reports.

Education:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or another related field.
