An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join the Legal team at our Corporate Head Office in Downtown Vancouver, B.C. The Legal Counsel will support the Company’s brisk expansion into major U.S. markets, and will have primary responsibility for drafting, reviewing and advising on leases, concession agreements, operating agreements, joint venture agreements and other major business contracts. The Legal Counsel will also support other Corporate Office departments and members of the senior management team to drive the Company’s broader goals, objectives and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft and advise upon day-to-day parking operating agreements, leases, licenses, valet and patrol agreements
  • Review, draft and advise upon supply and services agreements for all departments
  • Provide general advice and support to senior management and all business teams on best practices for compliance and risk mitigation
  • Advise on and oversee handling of disputes and litigation matters, including retaining and instructing outside counsel
  • Participate in special projects and acquisitions
  • Provide leadership and oversight for corporate governance matters
  • Oversee and support team of Contracts Paralegals

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • LL.B/J.D. from an accredited law school and \current membership in a Canadian Law Society.  Admission to the bar in a U.S. state is an asset.
  • 5-12 years of experience in commercial and real estate law
  • experience in both a mid- to large-sized private practice environment and as in-house legal counsel preferred
  • experience with any of the following: IT licensing, e-commerce, privacy, project management, P3 projects, concessions, intellectual property, corporate law or banking
  • highly developed problem solving skills, with a pragmatic mindset and ability to innovate
  • impeccable attention to detail
  • outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain complex legal matters in simple and succinct terms with a business oriented focus
  • proven collaborator who takes initiative and has ability to drive projects forward to completion
  • collegial disposition and adaptable to change
